The MVTV Reboot Defined

"I wouldn't consider this season 7. I consider this a new beginning. That's the beauty of monsterVisionTV. It was never with restriction. It can and will be an ongoing project."

It is hard to believe it has only been a little over a month since the official announcement of the monsterVisionTV reboot took social media by storm. So much has happened in so little time. Formaly retired social media pages resurfaced, a never-before-released episode hit the internet, and the announcement of a new documentary followed by a teaser video for the film that took on a thousand views in just a few days.

But other than the promotion and talk of the new currently untitled documentary with a phantom crew yet to be seen, very little is known as to what the reboot is actually rebooting.

Today, we find out exactly what the monsterVisionTV camp is up to.

It was announced by Lancaster that the monsterVisionTV 2016 reboot is a combination of documentaries and the traditional episodes fans became accustomed to.

Originally launched in late 2007, monsterVisionTV began with a case by case, episode by episode structure that never necessarily relied on traditional seasonal restrictions.

"In the beginning MVTV released episodes chronicling the investigations that produced perceived paranormal activity. There was never a set release schedule. Episodes would appear once a month or once every couple of months. We really were at the will of reality. We did not want to waste the time of our viewers, so we were adamant about only releasing episodes that contained general interest of the topic at hand," said Stephen Lancaster.

monsterVisionTV continued that tradition for six seasons until retiring the show in 2013. "We operated the show methodically, stuck to our beliefs and continued on for six years. People fell in love with our format. They appreciated the authenticity and I believe they really enjoyed watching paranormal investigations through the eyes of real paranormal investigators. We put that format on the map long before everybody else started doing it all over the internet," added Lancaster.

After a three year hiatus, Lancaster and camp are working on a documentary to reboot and relaunch the series.

"What we are about to do was actually in the works four years ago," said Lancaster.

In 2012, Stephen Lancaster and his then head investigator Allen Bess started discussing ways to raise the bar on MVTV. They suggested filming and focusing on one location and one documentary per year while dropping traditional monsterVisionTV episodes in between.

"That's very true. That was the plan at one point, but it never got off the ground. We started the process passionately, but unfortunately, MVTV called it quits," added Stephen.

Now in 2016, that plan is in play.

"We are rebooting MVTV with a very intriguing documentary this Fall. We are currently in the pre-production stage. After the release, new monsterVisionTV episodes will start to surface. That's the plan from here on out. We will release one documentary per year with episodes in between. I wouldn't consider this season 7. I consider this a new beginning. That's the beauty of monsterVisionTV. It was never with restriction. It can and will be an ongoing project," said Lancaster.

So there it is. The MVTV 2016 reboot will start with a full fledged documentary followed by new episodes each year.

Lancaster also assures us old faces will be present.

"That goes without question. As long as MVTV exists, there will always be a place for those who once called it home. Many, many familiar faces are involved with the upcoming documentary and you can expect to see the same with the future episodes," added Stephen.

The new documentary is slated for an October 2016 release.
